Students are preparing for a return to inter-school competitive sports after months in isolation.
The Public Schools Association (PSA) plans to bring back inter-school sports on June 20 after the mid-term break with the easing of COVID-19 restrictions.
The PSA comprises the heads of Perth schools Aquinas, Christ Church, Guildford, Hale, Scotch, Trinity and Wesley.
The PSA had several major events scheduled for throughout the year, including an annual swimming carnival in March which narrowly avoided the Government’s ban on large group gatherings.
Executive officer Verity Keogh said the return of sport was an exciting time for students and families.
“We have looked to achieve the maximum number of sporting opportunities for the maximum number of students, all whilst ensuring the health and safety of students and staff remains the number one priority,” Ms Keogh said.
PSA chairman and Trinity College principal Darren O’Neill said bringing inter-school back was a huge step forward.
“The benefits of sport for all are vast as we know, but the prospect of bringing back some of these opportunities to young students across Perth is very exciting,” he said.
